Free Mobile Phones

9 March 2010 No Comment

These days millions of people live in poverty unable to afford basic life necessities. These people can barely make enough to pay for food, let alone anything else. In order to alleviate some of the strain for these people, the government has instilled many social programs.

One government program that is gaining traction is the free mobile phone program. The purpose of this program is to allow people to have a phone which they can use for emergencies if they cannot afford their own phone.

To get a free mobile phone, you have to meet government requirements. You can find out the requirements from the cellular provider. Basically they will look at your income to decide if you are eligible. If you are already on other government programs like food stamps then you can safely assume you will get a free mobile phone.

Even though the phone is free, you only get a specified amount of minutes to use each month. This is usually about sixty minutes. It can be a little more or less depending on where you live.

Also, you have to show that you are eligible for free cell phones every year. Once you are not considered low income, then you cannot use those phones for free.

Get a free cell phone by finding cell phone service providers in your city. Not every state has cell phone providers that give free cell phones so check your area.

After you find a carrier that gives free cell phones, fill out their application. Provide to them the necessary documentations showing that you are eligible for the cell phones. You can show your pay stubs or W2s.

Be sure you keep track of your minutes used every month. You do not want to run out of minutes when you really need it most. Check the amount of minutes you have used frequently each month. You can even make a schedule detailing how many minutes you can use each week.
